Title transfers require the original physical title. There is no digital substitute. The fastest and most straightforward way to get your original title to us is to drop it off in person at a scheduled appointment.
In-person drop-offs allow us to review the title with you on the spot, confirm all signatures are in the right places, and answer any questions before work begins. If you need notary services, we can arrange that at the same appointment.
For clients who cannot come in person, document delivery options are discussed privately after your case is reviewed and accepted. We confirm the right approach for your specific situation before any original documents change hands.
Why do you require the original title?
Alabama law requires the original certificate of title to process a transfer. A copy, photo, or digital version cannot be substituted. The original must be present and in the correct condition — no alterations, no white-out, and no missing sections. If yours has any of those issues, let us know during the case review and we will advise you on the correct path before you bring anything in.
What if there are errors or corrections on the title?
A title with corrections, cross-outs, or alterations may not be accepted by the Alabama Department of Revenue. This is one of the most common reasons title transfers get rejected. If your title has any marks or corrections on it, flag this during your case review so we can assess whether it will be accepted or whether a corrected title needs to be obtained first.
What if the title is in someone else's name?
If the title is not in your name, the transfer process is more complex. The registered owner may need to sign off, and depending on the situation, additional documentation may be required. Do not bring in a title that is not in your name without discussing it during the case review first. We will tell you exactly what is needed before you come in.
